WHO WE ARE
**In 2018, the orchard was sold to new ownership and is now operational under new management.**
Welcome to the Matt Family Orchard. We are a family-owned and operated pick-your-own orchard. Matt Family Orchard is located 30 miles northwest of Houston off Highway 290. In 1996 we purchased 86 acres of an undeveloped subdivision with an airplane landing strip, known as Little Cypress Airport. We also started the installation of an irrigation system, today we have over thirty-five miles of buried irrigation pipe. We planted our first tree in the spring of 1997 and today we have 40 acres planted with blueberries, blackberries, some thornless, figs, jujube (Asian dates), Asian pears, Asian persimmons, peaches, loquat and citrus. In 1998 we added picnic facilities for over 100 people. In 2002 we built a barn and flushable toilets. In 2005 we added a deer proof fence and purchased guinea hens to free roam the orchard. In 2010 we built a 2,000 sq ft pavilion and added more picnic tables in the picnic area. In 2011 we added a covered area at the berry patch.
Besides the orchard we also provide facilities for group outings such as: tours, school field trips, church groups, birthday parties, reception, family reunions and other group organizations gatherings. Groups enjoy the country experience while using picnic facilities, playground and sporting equipment and fun educational tours. Evening hayrides and sing-alongs by the campfire are fun for all ages.
